Strathmore Continues Feasibility Studies and Permitting Activities on its Properties in the United States

KELOWNA, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - Aug. 8, 2005) - Strathmore Minerals Corp. (TSX VENTURE:STM) is pleased to announce that its uranium mine development office established in Santa Fe, New Mexico, is now fully operational. Our presence in Santa Fe will allow us to better facilitate ongoing feasibility studies and permitting activities on its properties in the United States. The office is managed by Mr. John DeJoia, Vice President of Technical Services, and Mr. Juan Velasquez, Vice President of Environmental and Government Affairs. Both are experts in the uranium mine development process and possess approximately 65 years of combined industry experience.

In addition, Strathmore's Riverton, Wyoming exploration office has added one full time and four part time professionals for geological, engineering and land activities.

Strathmore has chosen to pursue permits for its Church Rock and Roca Honda properties based on the extensive drilling that has already been performed, the favorable feasibility studies completed by previous owners, the validity of the existing database in Strathmore's possession, the historical production from adjacent properties, and the recent successful permitting activity on a neighboring property. Updated resource calculations for the Church Rock and Roca Honda, New Mexico properties, which are our first two projects to be considered for production, have been completed and are being reviewed. The 43-101 technical report for Roca Honda was completed in March and is available for review on SEDAR ( The 43-101 technical report for Church Rock, has also been completed and a review of the new ore resource calculation will be performed by our consultant before releasing the technical report on SEDAR.

Strathmore personnel have also met with the Governor's office in both Wyoming and New Mexico, and will be meeting with the appropriate State regulatory personnel in Santa Fe and Cheyenne. Discussions are also scheduled this month with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) in Washington. Strathmore has initiated corporate programs to support its operations, which include: Corporate Health and Safety, Radiation Protection, Quality Assurance and Quality Control. Several subcontractors have been retained as we prepare the documents for submission as part of the various permit applications that require approval before the production of uranium in New Mexico can begin. This documentation includes an archeological and cultural resources clearance, hydrologic regime evaluations, spill prevention, control and countermeasures strategies, Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan, a reclamation plan, and an evaluation of potential threatened and endangered species. Baseline studies are scheduled to begin in the spring of 2006.

Detailed geological and engineering studies will continue for both the Church Rock and Roca Honda projects. Feasibility studies and core hole design work have started for the Church Rock property. Drilling is planned to collect additional core samples for equilibrium analysis, permeability and metallurgical testing. Previous studies completed by Kerr McGee Nuclear and Rio Algom on the Church Rock and adjacent properties have been reviewed. These new studies will validate and supplement previous and existing work.
