Stratus Avance Foundation Slashes Cost of High-Availability Computing for Critical Applications

MAYNARD, MA--(Marketwire - Feb 21, 2012) - With the introduction of Stratus® Avance® Foundation software, the industry's most effective high-availability solution for critical business applications just became even more affordable, Stratus Technologies announced today.

Entry-level Avance Foundation is priced significantly less than the current version, while still providing companies of all sizes in all industries with the same level of uptime assurance -- 99.99% availability -- for the applications they depend on most to power business operations. Avance Foundation software is marketed in the U.S. and Europe through partnerships with Intel system builders and resellers.

Stratus Avance automatically connects and synchronizes two standard servers so that one node is able to seamlessly continue operations in the event of a hardware failure on the other node. The Foundation software runs on servers built with Intel's newest S1200KP motherboard. It supports up to eight processing threads, 8GB of RAM and two virtual machines; two threads are required to run the software. Built-in, wizard-based virtualization lets users with no special technical skills easily provision Windows and Linux virtual machines. Predictive fault management and fully automated recovery help to ensure system availability of 99.99 percent, or less than one hour of downtime annually on average.

Avance software is the only high-availability solution that automatically detects, isolates and pre-emptively handles faults to keep applications running despite system interruptions. The self-managing software includes a single, web-based management console that enables remote monitoring and management of servers, VMs and network interfaces.
