Stratus Technologies Acquires DRA Data Storage and Recovery Products

The Purchase of DRA Assets Shows Stratus' Commitment to Serving Its OpenVOS Customer Base

MAYNARD, MA--(Marketwire - Apr 25, 2012) - Stratus Technologies, Inc. has acquired certain assets of Data Research and Applications, Inc. (a.k.a. DRA) of Knoxville, TN, the company announced today. DRA and Stratus have been engaged in business together since 1982.

Stratus has acquired rights to DRA products and related intellectual property. Stratus says the acquisition will have no impact on revenues and will be immediately accretive to earnings. No DRA employees or liabilities are included in the acquisition.

"This acquisition demonstrates our support of and unwavering commitment to the many Stratus OpenVOS customers around the world who entrust their most important business applications to us," said David C. Laurello, Stratus president and CEO. "This expands Stratus' influence over the complete customer experience as their most trusted IT systems advisor."

DRA developed data storage and recovery products for Stratus customers -- StorGate and SuperSync, primarily -- that run applications based on the company's OpenVOS operating system. Stratus believes that, in addition to generating incremental profits, the acquisition will contribute to a more stable and confident installed base of global customers.
