MAYNARD, MA--(Marketwire - October 12, 2010) - Seneca, custom system manufacturer of Nexlink®-brand products and a value-added technology distributor, and Stratus Technologies announced that Seneca will integrate Stratus® Avance® high availability software into its Nexlink server line. Seneca is the first U.S.-based systems builder, and third worldwide, associated with the Intel Enabled Server Acceleration Alliance (ESAA) to resell Avance software, which is certified on pre-tested server platforms available through ESAA.
Stratus Avance is designed to prevent downtime, data loss and business interruption. Integrating the software on a Nexlink server pair creates a highly differentiated uptime solution for value-added resellers (VARs) to offer their small and mid-size (SMB) customers, at a fraction of the cost of conventional hardware clusters. VARs will find the Nexlink/Avance platform easy to deploy, requiring no specialized cluster training or expensive and proprietary standby products. For their customers, the platform is easily managed from a single console, and its affordability lowers total cost of ownership for immediate and measurable business value.

Avance software creates a high-availability computing platform from two general-purpose Intel processor-based x86 servers. The platform supports off-the-shelf Microsoft Windows and Red Hat Enterprise Linux applications running concurrently. Highly automated and designed for ease of use and management, Avance software automatically detects, isolates and handles faults before they can disrupt processing or cause an outage. This self-managing, high-availability software includes a web-based management console for remote monitoring and management of servers, VMs, and network interfaces. Resellers may partner with Stratus to offer pro-active customer service that complements their solutions, or they can rely on Stratus to provide direct-to-user services. Currently, Avance software is certified for use with pre-tested Intel S5520HC and S5520UR ESAA server configuration recipes.
