Stream Energy Announces Hurricane Assistance Measures

DALLAS, TX--(Marketwire - September 12, 2008) - To assist customers impacted by Hurricane Ike, Stream Energy has implemented operational measures aimed at providing relief.

"Realizing the potential for catastrophe facing the people of South Texas, Stream Energy is doing our part to make sure customers have peace of mind and ready access to helpful information," said Rob Snyder, Stream Energy chairman.

The measures include temporarily suspending all disconnect requests and collection activities in the affected areas of Hurricane Ike. Stream Energy has also encouraged all of its customers to follow the instructions of local authorities regarding evacuation procedures, alternative shelter and life-essential needs.

"We ask that customers please not try to repair or move any downed lines or other equipment by themselves," said Trei Henri, Stream Energy's Managing Director Retail Operations.

In the case of outages, Stream Energy encourages customers to call the Transmission and Distribution Service Provider Outage/ Emergency Numbers:

*   Oncor (TXU service area) -- 888-313-4747
*   CenterPoint (Reliant service area) -- 800-332-7143
* AEP Central (CPL service area) -- 866-223-8508
* TNMP (First Choice service area) -- 888-866-7456
* AEP North (WTU service area) -- 866-223-8508

In the event of an electrical outage, Stream Energy recommends customers have a copy of their electric bill on hand, if possible, when calling the TDSPs.

Stream Energy's announcement follows the company's earlier statement that it has relaxed its requirements for payment extensions and deferred payment plans for customers who are classified as elderly, ill and disabled, low income, elderly and low income or in need of critical care.
