Strong October Sales for Volkswagen Canada

AJAX, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Nov. 1, 2011) - New vehicle sales at Volkswagen Canada continue to set records after October's strong performance. During the month, a total of 4,628 vehicles were sold by Canadian Dealerships, topping last year's mark by 8%.

Year-to-date, 45,024 Volkswagens have been sold, 19% above the total from the first ten months of last year.

"Joining the Volkswagen lineup later this month will be The 21st Century Beetle. With the return of The Beetle to our product offering, we are able to appeal to even more Canadian automotive consumers," stated John White, President and CEO of Volkswagen Group Canada.

The Jetta continues to lead the way for the company, logging 2,318 sales during the month. Year-to-date, 23,287 have been sold, more than doubling the results from the same period last year. The Jetta is larger than the previous model, yet more fuel efficient and features ultra-modern styling and a significantly lower starting price than its predecessor.

The 2012 Passat is also all-new and is now reaching Dealers in greater numbers. Sales of the Passat numbered 659, representing a 97% increase over last year's figure. The new Passat also offers significantly more interior space to go along with its lower price tag. The Passat is available from $23,975 and features a choice of three engines, including the award-winning TDI Clean Diesel.
