Stuart Williams, Ph.D. to Be Featured With BioAssemblyBot/TSIM Innovation on CNN's Moonshots for the 21st Century

LOUISVILLE, KY--(Marketwired - December 23, 2014) - Advanced Solutions Life Sciences, LLC (ASLS), a wholly owned subsidiary of Advanced Solutions, Inc., is proud to announce, ASLS Scientific Advisor, Stuart Williams, Ph.D. will be featured with the BioAssemblyBot™ (BAB) and TSIM™ (Tissue Structure Information Modeling) inventions on the upcoming television special, Moonshots for the 21st Century, with CNN's Fareed Zakaria, host of Global Public Square (GPS).

Moonshots for the 21st Century is set to air on the Cable News Network (CNN), Sunday, December 28, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. (ET) and again at 1:00 p.m. (ET). The show will focus on bold and ambitious technological innovations under development today that are comparable to the technological quest of landing humans on the moon in the 1960's. Dr. Williams, BioAssemblyBot™, and TSIM™ are featured in one of the five Moonshot segments called, 3D Printing A Human Heart. The other Moonshot segments include: Sending Astronauts to Mars, Creating a Star on Earth, New York to London in One Hour, and Mapping the Human Brain

Dr. Williams, who is also the Director of Bioficial Organs Program at the Cardiovascular Innovation Institute, is on a quest to create a Total Bioficial Heart, which is a 3D printed replacement heart made from a patient's own cells. Dr. Williams and his team are utilizing BioAssemblyBot™ and TSIM™ as key tools to help them advance this biological innovation and achieve the Total Bioficial Heart goal. "TSIM and BAB provide investigators and practitioners unparalleled capabilities to design and fabricate biological constructs that mimic natural human tissue," said Dr. Williams.

BioAssemblyBot™ and TSIM™ enable Physicians, Researchers, Engineers, and Scientists to design, visualize, collaborate, simulate, and analyze 3D virtual models of complex tissue structures throughout the human body. Utilizing a six-axis robot arm, the BioAssemblyBot™ workstation provides "surgeon-like" precision in building 3D tissue structures. Up to ten, independent bioink's can be loaded in the workstation, during a single print run, enhancing the range and scope of assembled structures. Michael Golway, P.E., President & CEO, said, "Our BioAssemblyBot™ and TSIM™ technology platform allows researchers and scientists to design and assemble tissue structures with a speed and fidelity, previously unattainable." He went on to say "Our customers are able to treat Biology as an Information Technology with the BAB/TSIM innovation, and as a result, the next stage of exponential growth in performance of fabricated biological tissue structures will be realized."
