StubHub FanStats(SM) -- 2006-07 Top 10 Bowl Game Rankings and Fan Advantage Ratios

Secondary Ticket Data Shows Hottest Games and Projected Fan Attendance

SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- December 19, 2006 -- Another exciting college bowl season kicks off today and StubHub, the fan's ticket marketplace, has compiled a list of the top ten selling bowl games for 2006-07. StubHub's ranking system has narrowed down the large quantity of this year's games (32) to provide the ten hottest tickets in the land based on overall gross sales of each game on www.stubhub.com.

Coming in at number one is no surprise, this year's BCS National Championship game and battle between the top two teams in the land, #1 Ohio State and #2 Florida. Gross ticket sales for the highly anticipated match-up have already eclipsed last year's epic Rose Bowl game between USC and Texas by 50% and outsold all other BCS games combined. The Sugar Bowl, a compelling match-up between Notre Dame and area native LSU, is the second most sought after ticket on the StubHub marketplace. While those games are grossing the most dollars, the Chick-fil-A Bowl is selling the most actual tickets of any bowl game. With an average price of only $188 it's a relative bargain when compared to the BCS and subsequently fans of Virginia Tech and Georgia are buying in large numbers for the sold out game.

By comparing the volume of ticket sales in each bowl team's home state, StubHub has also projected the ratio of each school's fans that will be traveling to the game, the so-called "fan advantage." An overwhelming turnout of fans for one team at a neutral site can create a virtual home-field advantage. For the five BCS games, StubHub's sales data indicates overwhelming home-field-like advantages for LSU (LA) and USC (CA), both of whom will play their games in their home state. Ohio State holds a 2 to 1 edge over Florida for the BCS title game while the Fiesta Bowl a week earlier looks to be filled with fans coming from Boise State (ID) where buyers are outnumbering those from Oklahoma 5 to 1. Louisville (KY) fans have bought three times as many tickets for the Orange Bowl than opponent Wake Forest (NC).

"This year's bowl season is once again supplying great intersectional match-ups. And it's not just the BCS games that are hot sellers. Eight of our top-ten selling bowl games have already sold out at the box office, creating a pent up demand for fans wanting access to those games," said Jeff Fluhr, founder and CEO of StubHub.
