Kansas vs. Missouri Vaults Into Top Ten as Fans Ready for Biggest Border Showdown Ever

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - November 20, 2007) - College football's rivalry season is finally here with ten of StubHub's Top 25 College Football Rivalries being played this weekend. StubHub, the world's largest ticket marketplace, has been tracking the hottest games based on tickets sales for weeks, and it's clear now that last weekend's Ohio State @ Michigan game will be the top-selling college rivalry of the year on The game, won 14-3 by Ohio State Saturday, has still outsold third-ranked UCLA @ USC by nearly 50%. The Bruins and Trojans annual grudge match may still be able to overtake the USC @ Notre Dame game, played on Oct. 20, which continues to sit at number two.

The rest of the top ten sees some significant movement with new #2 Kansas vs. #4 Missouri, Saturday in Kansas City, vaulting into the top ten. The game rises two more spots this week to number nine overall, commanding $220 per ticket, more than triple the selling price it did in 2006 ($69) and still rising. With national championship implications at stake for both teams, sales for "The Border Showdown," the second-oldest rivalry in Division I-A, should surpass eighth-ranked Georgia and Florida by week's end.

Other key rivalry games this weekend have also moved up the rankings with Texas @ Texas A&M up one spot to number five and the "Iron Bowl" between Alabama and Auburn climbs to number seven. Arkansas @ LSU rounds out the top ten due in large part to a nearly $100 decrease in average ticket price from 2006 which has resulted in the second greatest amount of actual tickets purchased for any rivalry game.

Two other games made significant jumps in the rankings as well with Florida State @ Florida up to number twelve from sixteen and Georgia @ Georgia Tech up to number thirteen from seventeen. Both games will be played this coming Saturday.

The StubHub Top 25 Rivalry Rankings display the traditional college rivalry game tickets that are in highest demand by gross dollar volume of tickets sold through the StubHub ticket marketplace. A new Top 25 list is released weekly until the conclusion of the regular season as sales fluctuate due to pre-game hype and team performance. An important component of the rankings, Average Ticket Price, can also reflect the difference in year over year demand for each game, an interesting stat with so many traditional powers having sub-par seasons.

Rankings are expected to change weekly based on the importance of each game and the overall performance of one or both teams. Once a game has been played it still may rank on the list based on the total sales activity for that game. For example, USC @ Notre Dame could outsell all other games this season and therefore rank number one many weeks after it has been played.
