StubHub FanStats(SM) - NBA Fans Finding Ticket Deals Plentiful for 2008 Playoffs

Postseason Bargains Most Prevalent in Detroit With Seats Selling as Low as $1

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - May 15, 2008) - Seven teams are still alive in the NBA Playoffs and the Boston Celtics, Cleveland Cavaliers, Detroit Pistons, Los Angeles Lakers, Utah Jazz, New Orleans Hornets, and San Antonio Spurs all have a realistic shot for the Finals. Despite the frenetic action on the court, ticket resale prices on StubHub, the world's largest ticket marketplace, have remained remarkably affordable, with some selling for as low as $1 apiece.

As fans are increasingly adopting the secondary market for buying and selling tickets, the open marketplace dynamic truly comes into play with supply and demand determining pricing. This postseason, Pistons tickets have been the league's best bargain, as home playoff games have sold for an average price of just $35 and $43 for the first and second rounds, respectively. Compared to the NHL's postseason, ticket prices have been much more digestible for the NBA Playoffs. Tickets for the first round of NBA postseason play averaged $99, compared to $149 for the NHL. Similarly, the NBA's second round is currently averaging $129, while the NHL averaged $186 for the Conference Semifinals.

Samer Sarhan, a loyal Pistons fan from nearby Canton, MI, has been enjoying the affordable prices and nabbed tickets for every home game played thus far. "Playoff tickets in any sport are hard to come by for the average fan, but StubHub has made it simple to still find great seats at fair prices," remarked Sarhan. "I've been able to catch all the action and have access to a wide selection of tickets without having to be a season ticket holder or VIP."

"There's a common misperception about secondary ticket outlets that prices are always grossly inflated, but this NBA Playoffs season is a prime example that consumers can find real values for even hot events from a competitive marketplace like StubHub," said company spokesperson Sean Pate. "StubHub's managed marketplace offers fans a safe and reliable option for securing tickets and the competition amongst sellers regulates the asking prices."
