Student Project in Israel Provides Unique Learning Forum

BEVERLY HILLS, CA--(Marketwire - January 18, 2011) - "Sig ve Siach Debate Project," an educational debate program hosted by the Citizens' Empowerment Center in Israel (CECI) commenced on January 9th. The program, which began in 2010, is held at high schools in cooperation with Minister Gideon Saar and Israel's Ministry of Education.

This year's competition will honor 2011 as Israel's "Hebrew Language Year" and the debate teams are addressing the theme: "Ensuring a Spot for Women in Parliament." CECI designed the program to provide a forum for students to develop their powers of persuasion while gaining valuable public speaking and personal rhetoric experience.

Within the project's curriculum, topics focusing on cognitive thinking, listening techniques, and the "culture" of discussion will be addressed. Such topics have not customarily been taught in the educational programs of high schools

Neil Kadisha, previous Qualcomm Director and Managing Member of Omninet Capital, and Izak Parviz Nazarian, previous Qualcomm Director, Chairman of Omninet Capital and President of CECI, founded the non-profit organization in 2002.

"This project provides a unique opportunity for students to refine skills that are important to possess both inside and outside of the classroom. Public speaking, working as part of a team and strategic thinking are invaluable tools for all students to develop," said Kadisha.

The competitions for the year will be completed by March 2011 to commemorate "Israel's National Day of Women." The 4 top winning schools will be announced nationally and will receive their awards at a special ceremony at Tel Aviv University.
