Students Rank Lecture Capture 'Most Important' Blended Learning Resource

Given the Option, Students Overwhelmingly Prefer Lecture Capture to Enhance Studies

DULLES, VA--(Marketwire - Jun 7, 2011) - Echo360, the global leader in campus-wide blended learning and lecture capture solutions, today released a paper entitled 'The Student View of Blended Learning.' The paper reveals that students selected Lecture Capture as the 'most important blended learning technology resource,' followed by 'Course/Learning Management Systems' and 'Smartboards & Projectors.' Eighty-four percent of respondents said they would like to see institutions expand the use of blended learning while 86 percent responded that it increases their understanding of course material.

The findings in the paper result from a survey administered to nearly 2,000 students from 17 higher education institutions in 2010. For a copy of the paper, visit: http://echo360.com/blended-learning/student-whitepaper.

"Gathering data from our clients worldwide is critical to understanding how technology can support the changing needs of physical institutions," said Fred Singer, CEO of Echo360. "This study confirms blended learning is a critical component to a modern educational experience and represents a major opportunity for campuses to meet the demands of their students."

Among the top benefits of lecture capture and blended learning solutions identified by students are:

  • Helps me review material from class
  • Helps me prepare for exams
  • Allows me to learn independently
  • Clarifies confusing topics
  • Improves overall learning experience
  • Helps me use my time more efficiently

Presented with the choice to use blended learning and lecture capture technology, nine out of every ten students did so.
