Study Reveals Less Than 1% Price Difference Between Nordstrom and The Bay

VANCOUVER, BC--(Marketwired - October 01, 2015) - A comparative study by Pricefox (www.gopricefox.com) has revealed that, for the products surveyed in Vancouver, Nordstrom is less than 1% more expensive than The Bay. The study included top selling and frequently purchased in-store items for women’s and men’s clothing, fashion accessories, health and beauty products at both stores. It also included major brands, such as Clarisonic, Dior, Estee Lauder, Hugo Boss, Kate Spade, Marc Jacobs, Ray-Ban, Yves St-Laurent and others.

"The majority of the prices that we surveyed were identical between the two stores. Being a new arrival in the Vancouver downtown area, it is a reasonable assumption that Nordstrom is aligning its regular in-store prices to its nearest competitor," says Olga Orda, Pricefox Marketing Director.

Although price differences between the two retailers were few, there were some notable exceptions. For example:

• "J Brand Maria High Rise Skinny Jeans" were 14% more expensive at Nordstrom.

• "Cartier Pasha de Cartier (Edition Noire) Eau de Toilette (100ml)" was 12% more expensive at Nordstrom.

• "Hugo Boss Leather Strap 2-Hand Quartz Slim Ultra Round Watch" was 5% more expensive at The Bay.

For health and beauty products, the study also included Sephora. The overall price difference for the same basket of surveyed products from all three retailers was less than 1%.

The study was performed by Pricefox Inc. a Vancouver based technology start-up. The company recently launched Pricefox (http://www.gopricefox.com), Canada’s first nearby product search app. The app allows users to search for and compare products in their local area. Pricefox is available on the App Store and Google Play.
