Sudbury Starts Total Seven for January

GREATER SUDBURY, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Feb. 8, 2012) - According to preliminary data released today by Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, total housing starts in the Greater Sudbury Census Metropolitan Area (CMA) totaled seven units in January down from ten units started in January 2011.

"Despite a milder January than normal, only three single-detached starts and four semi-detached homes got underway in January in Greater Sudbury. As prices for single-detached homes rise in Greater Sudbury, semi-detached units are beginning to gain wider appeal with prospective new home buyers," said Warren Philp, CMHC's Northern Ontario Market Analyst.
