Sullivan Children's Foundation Golf Tournament to Support Foster Teens

SAN DIEGO, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- November 4, 2005 -- The charity Sullivan Children's Foundation (SCF) announced today it is sponsoring a golf tournament November 18, 2005 to benefit the San Pasqual Academy, a first-in-the-nation residential education campus designed specifically for foster teens. Located in Escondido, California, the 50-acre campus provides foster teens with a stable and caring home, a quality, individualized education, and preparation for independent living in a serene setting thanks partly to private donations. In order to continue this unique program, the academy continues to need the help of many generous people throughout the community to see this project through.

"SCF is confident that our golf tournament will be a success the help of members of the business community. With each dollar donated, we are able to elevate the lives of many teens at the San Pasqual Academy in a significant way," said Kevin Hayford, Director of the SCF. Many people don't realize that about 30% of the more than 7,000 foster children in San Diego County are teenagers and approximately 375 to 400 of these young people 'age out' of the foster-care system every year. Further, during their time in the foster system, foster children will typically move between an average of 10 different homes and attend five or six high schools during their teenage years. "San Pasqual Academy provides teens with a mentoring, stable environment during these formative years. Without the crucial support of their families and a high school education, the future of these young people is uncertain. Please join us November 18 and contribute towards making a difference," said Kevin.

The SCF Golf Tournament will take place Friday November 18, 2005 at Admiral Baker Field, which is located at the intersection of Admiral Baker Road and Santo Road. Admiral Baker Field is a Navy golf course but will be open to both military and nonmilitary personnel for the tournament, so there are no special entrance requirements.

Sponsorship levels from $600 to $10,000 are available, and packages are available for groups ranging from singles to foursomes, to larger groups. Participants are also encouraged to sponsor golfing teens from San Pasqual Academy, many of whom will attend and are anxious to hit the greens with your sponsorship! Food, fun, and golf promise to make this tournament a very special one.

About San Pasqual Academy

More than just a school, San Pasqual was designed to provide foster youth with an environment where they can learn valuable vocational, social, and life skills to prepare them for the future. Offering an alternative placement option for San Diego County foster teens, the Academy opened in October 2001 and has a capacity for 135 youth, with expansion planned for 250+ youth. The academy consists of classrooms, residence halls, library, cafeteria, athletic facilities and playing fields, administrative offices, and learning centers. The academy houses foster teens in family groups of six to eight youngsters in residence halls on campus, with adult staff serving as caring role models and advisors. Education is enhanced by individualized instructional plans, small class sizes, and opportunities to enroll in AP/college prep classes. Vocational training and college placement assistance are available to students. Social opportunities are provided through an array of campus clubs and organizations, and SPA athletic teams participate in regular CIF Leagues.
