Summer Infant, Inc. Hires New Canadian Division President

WOONSOCKET, RI--(Marketwire - February 18, 2010) - Summer Infant, Inc. ("Summer Infant" or the "Company") (NASDAQ: SUMR) today announced that they have hired a new President of Summer Infant Canada, Stephen Orleans. This is a newly created role as their operations in Canada have grown over the past few years and will continue to become a strategic focus of Summer Infant going forward.

Mr. Orleans comes to Summer Infant most recently from Dorel Industries. At Dorel, Mr. Orleans served as President of Dorel Distribution Canada from 2000-2008. Prior to that, he owned and operated Orleans Juvenile Products Inc., a Canadian distributor for Safety 1st from 1986-1996. Orleans Juvenile Products was one of the largest distributors of juvenile products in the Canadian market, servicing mass merchants, specialty retailers, supermarkets and drug stores. When Safety 1st acquired his company in 1996, Mr. Orleans remained on as President of Safety 1st Canada, and retained that position after Dorel acquired Safety 1st in 2000.

As President of Summer Infant Canada and with his 20+ years experience in the juvenile industry, Mr. Orleans will be specifically responsible for providing leadership to propel Summer Infant's growth within this market, as well as developing a strategic plan to advance the company's mission and objectives in promoting revenue, profitability, and organizational growth.

"Having Stephen come on board in this newly created role fulfills an important corporate objective; that of streamlining and expanding our operations in Canada," said Jason Macari, President and CEO of Summer Infant, Inc. "Stephen brings a tremendous amount of experience growing and managing a business within the juvenile products industry. We are confident his skill set will be an asset to delivering on the strategies set forth in our development plan for the Canadian market."
