Sumo Logic Showcases Continuous Intelligence for Cloud Apps at RSA 2016

Integrations With Microsoft Office 365, Salesforce.com and Google Apps and New Partnership With ThreatStream Creates Single Solution for Operations, Security and Compliance

REDWOOD CITY, CA--(Marketwired - Feb 23, 2016) - Sumo Logic, a leading cloud-native data analytics service, today announced security monitoring support for a number of cloud applications including Microsoft Office 365, Salesforce.com and Google Apps, as well as a new partnership with ThreatStream to add machine-readable threat intelligence into the Sumo Logic service. These new offerings augment the current Sumo Logic Cloud Application portfolio that includes AWS Cloud Trail, AWS Config, Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (AmazonVPC) Flow Logs, Box, ServiceNow and other feature-rich solutions. Sumo Logic's improved security monitoring portfolio is now the industry's most comprehensive for a cloud-native service, thereby enabling organizations with the real-time, continuous intelligence they need to help manage audit and compliance activities and improve their security posture.

According to Gartner, "Through 2020, 80% of cloud breaches will be due to customer misconfiguration, mismanaged credentials or insider theft, not cloud provider vulnerabilities."(1) Sumo Logic brings a new level of visibility and transparency to activity within these modern-day, cloud-based services. Once ingested into the Sumo Logic service, customers are able to combine their activity logs with logs from other cloud apps and on-premise infrastructures, to create a single monitoring solution for operations, security and compliance across the entire enterprise.

"As more and more organizations leverage modern-day, cloud-based applications such as Microsoft Office 365, Salesforce.com, Google Apps and Box, it's critical that they have visibility into user admin actions to help manage audit and compliance activities and identify unusual behaviors that might compromise data security," said George Gerchow, director of product management for security and compliance at Sumo Logic. "And combined with threat intelligence, Sumo Logic is the only cloud-native service that delivers the continuous intelligence organizations need around cloud apps to generate key security insights and mitigate data security risks."

Support for Microsoft Office 365, Salesforce.com and Google Apps will be available in beta for existing Sumo Logic customers through the Sumo Logic Application Library in April.

Sumo Logic unveiled a number of other announcements ahead of RSA 2016 including:

  • New Partnership with ThreatStream
Sumo Logic has partnered with ThreatStream, a pioneering enterprise-class threat intelligence platform to add machine-readable threat intelligence into Sumo Logic's security monitoring capabilities. Through this partnership, customers will be able to correlate their Sumo Logic log data with threat intelligence data to identify and visualize malicious IP addresses, domain names, email addresses and URLs. This helps to increase the velocity and accuracy of threat detection and to proactively identify and combat cyber threats targeting their operations. Sumo Logic is the first cloud-based analytics solution to have a threat intelligence offering. The Sumo Logic App for ThreatStream is currently in preview and will be generally available to existing customers later this year.

  • New CSA Star Certification
Sumo Logic has secured CSA Star Certification by the Cloud Security Alliance. The technology-neutral certification leverages the requirements of the ISO/IEC 27001 management system standard together with the CSA Cloud Controls Matrix, a specified set of criteria that measures the capability levels of the cloud service. This certification makes Sumo Logic the first and only cloud-native data analytics vendor with the highest level of compliance certifications to secure data in the cloud. The news further demonstrates the company's commitment to security and compliance.

  • RSA Security Panel with Shark Tank's Robert Herjavec
Sumo Logic will be hosting a panel discussion and networking reception with the Herjavec Group on Feb. 29, 2016, at the W Hotel in San Francisco. "Inside the Tank: A Fireside Security Chat" will feature Robert Herjavec, founder and CEO of Herjavec Group, and George Gerchow, director of product management for security and compliance at Sumo Logic. They will share perspectives on how today's biggest technology trends are driving new and complex challenges and opportunities for security teams. "Monitoring and managing an organization's security has traditionally been a manual function. It often takes weeks or months using internal monitoring tools to detect and respond to security incidents and determine the impact," said Hugh Njemanze, CEO for ThreatStream. "We're thrilled to partner with Sumo Logic to combine and correlate machine-readable threat intelligence with log data to help organizations quickly respond to the most targeted attacks and stay ahead of potential breaches."
