Sun National Bank Grows Branch Network With IBM on Demand Solution

Leading Community Bank Consolidates Onto Flexible IBM Platform to Support Its Expanding Network of Branches

ARMONK, NY -- (MARKET WIRE) -- May 3, 2005 -- IBM today announced that Sun National Bank, a leading community bank headquartered in Vineland, N.J., will consolidate its branch operations onto the IBM eServer iSeries i5 550 platform -- the hub of its on demand environment.

Following a significant growth over a couple of years, the scalable iSeries server grew with the Bank to support its expanded network of 73 branches. The system provides business-critical information and now powers all of the Bank's primary distribution channels -- ATM, telephone and Internet banking, as well as its teller and platform automation and lending systems.

The Bank's substantial growth over the past three years to $3 billion has lead to an increased need for on demand operations. The Bank handles nearly double the calls to its telephone banking channel and has experienced a 40 percent increase per year of online banking customers since 2002.

To accommodate that growth, Sun National Bank selected the IBM iSeries platform to seamlessly consolidate and simplify its constantly expanding infrastructure. The new i5 server, to be installed this month, gives this iSeries server customer the flexibility to continue growing.

"As Sun National Bank continues to grow, we need a scalable and reliable system that supports our ever-changing needs and continues to serve our customers at the level they have come to expect from Sun," said Lou Pellicori, Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer, Sun National Bank. "The iSeries server answers that need and delivers a solution that is cost-effective and dependable."

Sun National Bank's centralized data center is managed over two shifts through a small team of full-time IT staff members, and delivers a low total cost of ownership to the Bank's 73 locations and nearly 850 employees. As a result, the organization is able to re-invest those resources into other aspects of the company's success.

"U.S. banks continue to invest in branches as primary points of contact with customers," said Mark Shearer, IBM eServer iSeries General Manager. "For Sun National Bank, a leading community bank, the ability to manage multiple distribution channels from one platform gives them the flexibility and responsiveness to compete with larger players. The iSeries platform ensures that the Bank has a clear competitive advantage within this competitive industry."

The eServer iSeries i5 550 platform, with its ability to run multiple operating systems, runs Kirchman core bank processing software to support all customer delivery channels, ATM, online and telephone banking, as well as all regulatory and compliance systems at Sun National Bank. In addition, Sun National Bank relies on 50 IBM xSeries servers to support additional applications.
