Sunbelt Software Names Leading Security Expert Michael St. Neitzel as Vice President of Threat Research

Renowned Researcher and Developer Directs Sunbelt's Antivirus and Antispyware Research and Development Initiatives

CLEARWATER, FL--(Marketwire - June 24, 2008) - Sunbelt Software, a leading provider of Windows security software, today announced the appointment of renowned security and antimalware expert Michael St. Neitzel to the position of Vice President of Threat Research. In his new role, Michael is responsible for managing and spearheading Sunbelt's threat research initiatives and leading development efforts to deliver cutting-edge detection methods that not only combat today's complex types of viruses, spyware and malware, but also respond to emerging malicious threats.

Michael is widely regarded as one of the foremost experts on malware and its malicious mechanisms, and has authored a number of technical papers and publications, as well as participates regularly as a noted speaker at industry conferences. Michael comes to Sunbelt from FRISK Software, makers of F-Prot Antivirus, where he was a senior antivirus architect and company spokesperson. Prior to FRISK Software, he was a senior virus researcher with ESET s.r.o., where he worked on the NOD32 antivirus product. Previously, he was with Comodo Security, where he managed the team responsible for the Comodo firewall and antivirus products as executive director in Chennai, India. His expert opinion on computer security topics is frequently quoted in major newspapers, online media and television channels.

Michael has a long history of innovation and experience in complex, low-level programming, starting with assembler programming for the Sinclair ZX-Series and later for Commodore platforms, where he wrote Air Combat Emulator (Plus/4) and Hexen (C64); and for the Amiga, the Amiga Basic Compiler and Amiga Chess. It was during his development of Amiga software that he and Manfred Leidorf wrote one of the first antivirus programs for bootsector scanning in the world.

"Michael brings an enormous breadth and depth of antimalware expertise, including an extraordinary knowledge of advanced heuristic and behavioral detection mechanisms -- essential insight necessary in dealing with today's high volume of complex threats," said Alex Eckelberry, CEO of Sunbelt Software. "His experience and knowledge will be an invaluable addition to the ongoing advancement of our next-generation VIPRE antivirus + antispyware product line."
