Sunridge Gold Corp.: Drilling Starts at Kodadu Prospect, Asmara Project, Eritrea

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - Nov. 23, 2006) - Sunridge Gold Corp. (TSX VENTURE:SGC) announces that drilling has commenced at the Kodadu prospect on the Asmara Project, Eritrea. Recently completed detailed geological mapping has shown that Kodadu is the largest known "gossan" (surface expression of volcanogenic-massive-sulphide (VMS) mineralization) occurrence discovered to date within the Asmara Project with large outcrops occurring intermittently over a strike length of more than three kilometres and intermittently over a width of one to two kilometres. In addition, recently completed gravity and rock-chip sampling surveys have shown there to be a series of coincidental gravity and geochemical anomalies along most of this three kilometre trend. The geological model of VMS prospects with gossan outcrops and coincidental gravity anomalies has proven to be very successful in the discovery of VMS deposits in Eritrea.

Assay results from 1571 rock chip samples over the area suggest strong local mineralization. These results showed anomalous to high-grade gold, as well as anomalous lead, zinc and copper values over a large area of Kodadu, particularly the Central Zone, providing further evidence suggestive of strong sub-surface mineralization.

These latest assay results are from rock-chip samples taken as part of a regional sampling program covering approximately 85 square kilometres which includes the full 3 kilometres strike length of the mapped gossans and associated zones at Kodadu. Rock-chip samples weighing approximately 3 kilograms were taken from rock outcrops at irregular intervals. In general the results of the gold, copper, zinc and lead assays show anomalous metal values occurring over an almost continuous zone approximately 2 kilometres long. Many of the highest gold values (there were 8 samples over 10 g/t gold as follows: 84.20, 39.81, 27.32, 24.55, 17.66, 15.29, 13.26 and 11.87 g/t gold - see "Notes" below for more details of all gold assay results) coincide with the mapped occurrence of the gossan which is a good indication of potentially strong sub-surface mineralization. In addition, many of the copper, zinc and lead values are strongly anomalous at surface (see "Notes" below for more details of assay results) and again these largely coincide with the mapped gossans at surface indicating the potential for strong sub-surface mineralization. Anomalous but not economic grade base metal values are considered very significant as these metals are usually leached from rocks at the surface in this environment.

There are now three drills operating on the Asmara Project, two at Emba Derho and one at Kodadu. At Emba Derho, one drill is successfully conducting step-out drilling and has now extended the massive sulphide mineralization to over 900 metres in length while the second drill has commenced in-fill drilling. Assay results are pending on over thirty drill holes from Emba Derho and will be released when received. The project-wide gravity survey is ongoing as is further rock-chip and soil sampling to the west of Kodadu in the area of another extensive gossan know as Adi Lamza.
