Sunsail 444 (Leopard 44) Wins SAIL Magazine's Best Boat of the Year 2012

CLEARWATER, FL--(Marketwire - Dec 14, 2011) - The newest and most innovative catamaran to join the Sunsail fleet, the Sunsail 444 (Leopard 44) has received SAIL Magazine's coveted title of Best Boat 2012 in the Cruising Multihull under 50 feet category. The brand new Sunsail 444 represents South African Robertson and Caine's latest innovative developments with modern features not yet seen on production catamarans, while remaining committed to the tried and tested features that have made this line one on the most sought after brands of catamarans globally.

"You expect voluminous accommodations on a catamaran of this size, and the 444 does not disappoint," says Peter Nielsen of SAIL Magazine (Nielsen, 2011). The most significant modification on the Sunsail 444 is the addition of the open forward cockpit with direct access from the saloon. Unique to production catamarans, this feature offers increased visibility, ventilation, and a significant new approach on adding increased living space in an ergonomic and safe design feature. "The designers managed to make this addition without sacrificing internal volume by pushing the bridgedeck forward a little and shortening the bow trampoline," Peter explains (Nielsen, 2011).

This lounging area has a fixed overhead bimini for protection against the elements, forward door for direct access to saloon, splash cover, and drain. Furthermore, the forward door combined with large portlights in the windscreen allow for through ventilation in the saloon, even during a tropical downpour, where the forward bimini prevents water entry. Peter also commented (Nielsen, 2011) "below are four double cabins each with its own en suite heads and showers, this makes for a luxurious sailing experience."

"Robust build and clever design are hallmarks of the range, and over the years each new model has featured a number of smart and sometimes downright innovative ideas and refinements," Peter says (Nielsen, 2011). He went on to say, "It's not easy to give a loaded cruising cat satisfying sailing performance, but the designers are known for their fast-sailing boats and the 444 is as sprightly as such cats get." (Nielsen, 2011)

The Sunsail 444 is now arriving in the British Virgin Islands and St. Vincent for winter 2011/2012 sailing vacations, and has received excellent guest reviews after making its debut in Croatia, Greece and Turkey earlier this summer.

Cheryl Powell, COO of Sunsail, commented, "During the recent Annapolis Sailboat Show, the Sunsail 444 debuted in North America and customers experienced many of her new features first-hand. Sunsail 444 will also be the featured yacht at Sunsail's booth during the Strictly Sail Miami Boat Show, held from February 16-20, 2012. We welcome sailors and non-sailors alike to come explore all of her amenities."

The Sunsail 444 may be also purchased through the Sunsail Yacht Partnership Program, with attractive guaranteed revenues, up to 12 weeks sailing time each year and no operating or maintenance costs, including dockage and insurance.

Robertson and Caine designs and builds the Leopard line of blue water cruising catamarans, and produces charter-ready models for Sunsail.
