Sunshine Targets Friday Opening


BANFF, ALBERTA--(Marketwired - Nov. 12, 2013) - The long wait for Sunshine Village's new ski season is nearly over. With solid snowfalls this long weekend, the resort is slated for a Friday, November 15th opening day (weather permitting).

With 30 cm (12 in) of snow falling the past few days and a current 63 cm (25 in) snowpack creating a solid base, the resort's mountain team is busy preparing for a limited season opening.

"Runs made with natural snow makes for an exceptional ski experience and we anticipate a first-class opening for 2013-2014."

Sunshine is world famous for its legendary champagne powder snow. The resort has received awards for its unique snow farming technique, which uses 35 km of snow fencing to capture the snow on its three big mountains.

The popular resort will also open its doors to Banff's only ski-in, ski-out hotel with the season opening of the Sunshine Mountain Lodge on the 15th.

More information on specific terrain and lifts open will follow closer to the anticipated opening day.
