TORONTO, ON--(Marketwired - February 11, 2016) - To celebrate their close partnership, Sunwing Vacations and JAZZ.FM91 hosted the largest International Jazz Safari in Varadero, Cuba last month. While the tour operator has enjoyed a long standing relationship with JAZZ.FM91 over the years, assisting them with their group travel arrangements, the week-long jazz celebration in Cuba was the first instance where the two companies worked together to create an exclusive, stand-alone event.
Following the success of the largest International Jazz Safari, which was completely sold out, there are plans to recreate a similar International Jazz Safari in Cuba in 2017.
Amongst the Canadian acts that headlined during the 2016 week-long concert, which took place at one of Sunwing's leading, exclusive adults only resorts, Sanctuary at Grand Memories Varadero; were Juno award-winning singer-songwriter Molly Johnson, Juno and Gemini award nominee and veteran screen and stage performer, Jackie Richardson, together with celebrated Juno award-winning and Grammy nominated Canadian flutist and saxophonist, Jane Bunnett. Reputed for bridging the gap between Cuban and North American jazz, Bunnett was accompanied by the Cuban sextet, Maqueque. The lineup also included renowned Cuban performers The Harold LópezNussa Trio, jazz pianist, Bobby Carcasses, and members of the Buena Vista Social Club.
Also headlining during the week was renowned Juno-award winning, Joe Sealy, who was joined on stage by Colin Hunter (the Founding Chairman of the Sunwing Travel Group who has combined a celebrated singing career with his considerable professional accomplishments in the travel industry for many years).
