Sunworks Enters the Federal Government Market

Solar Integrator Appoints Charles E. Cunningham Managing Director to Develop Federal Business

ROSEVILLE, CA--(Marketwired - October 11, 2016) - Sunworks, Inc. (NASDAQ: SUNW), a leading provider of solar power solutions for commercial and residential markets, announced today the appointment of Charles E. Cunningham as Managing Director. Mr. Cunningham will be responsible for leading Sunworks' efforts to develop its federal solar business.

Mr. Cunningham brings over two decades of professional experience providing technical leadership, strategic planning, portfolio management, business development and international trade compliance authority to high-profile, multi-million dollar initiatives across the Federal marketplace to include the U.S. Department of Defense, Intelligence Community and Energy Sector.

The Department of Defense, the largest government consumer of energy in the United States, is under mandate to procure 25% of energy from renewables by 2025. The DoD has tasked the Army, Navy, and Air Force with producing one gigawatt of renewable energy each. Additionally, the Department of Energy leads the effort to catalyze the transformation of the nation's energy system and secure U.S leadership in clean energy technologies. The proliferation of solar initiatives across the Federal marketplace has seen a dramatic increase in recent years, and because of their sheer size, are unavoidably affecting energy markets across the country. At Sunworks, we anticipate this trend to continue.

"As we further develop Sunworks as an industry leader and pioneer in the solar industry, we recognize the opportunity, significance and importance of addressing solar needs in the Federal arena," said Jim Nelson, CEO of Sunworks. "Developing this arm of our business will further diversify Sunworks and position us to expand the utilization of solar solutions at the Federal level, which is good for Sunworks and for our country. We feel fortunate that Charles is leading our expansion efforts in servicing this market that has enormous growth potential."

Over his career with TASC, Northrop Grumman, Litton, Intergraph, and EDS, Mr. Cunningham held numerous positions of responsibility, providing business development leadership and oversight to corporate interests on a global scale. Additionally, Mr. Cunningham has extensive experience working with the U.S. State Department International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), commodity jurisdiction, export control compliance, disclosure and release policies. At the time of his departure from the defense contractor arena, Mr. Cunningham, along with a small team of executive leaders at TASC, successfully targeted new market growth in the United Kingdom to build a $1 billion dollar pipeline of business and won contracts valued at $190 million dollars in a one-year period. Subsequently, Mr. Cunningham went on to serve as an independent consultant in the Energy Sector, assisting clients with defining and executing strategic growth campaigns to penetrate the Federal marketplace.

"Sunworks has experienced exceptional growth in both its commercial and residential businesses while remaining a profitable company," said Mr. Cunningham. "I am thrilled to be a part of the Sunworks family and look forward to complementing the corporate portfolio as we pursue and capture opportunities across the Federal landscape."

Mr. Cunningham holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Geography/Remote Sensing from the University of Utah.
