GRANBY, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - Nov. 18, 2016) - Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED)
Businesses need to be able to rely on adequate resources to create and commercialize their new products. The Government of Canada is committed to supporting innovative Canadian enterprises. As a true economic driver, innovation is the key to success because it generates growth that benefits Canadian businesses and communities.
Acting on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for CED, Pierre Breton, Member of Parliament for Shefford, announced that Distributions - J. Des-Serres Inc., better known as Super Décapant/Remover (SD), has been granted $200,000 in financial assistance, in the form of a repayable contribution, to improve its performance through the automation of its manufacturing equipment and the expansion of the plant's storage area.
When it was created in 1979, SD manufactured and sold a stripping product for wood, metal and concrete on a very small scale until 2003, when current president Sébastien Plourde bought the St-Pie business and, in only three years, ramped it up to another level by putting new products on the market and running TV advertising campaigns. In January 2015, the company moved from St-Pie to their brand new facilities in Granby. Consumers are now familiar with the products, which are sold in all hardware stores across Canada. The Quebec Hardware and Building Supply Association (AQMAT) gave the business a "Conquérant-fournisseur" award at its 2013 gala.
The funding granted under CED's Quebec Economic Development Program (QEDP) will enable Super Décapant/Remover to acquire conveyer systems, robots and automated sealing equipment and to expand its plant to support business growth. The plant expansion and modernization will give the enterprise the flexibility it needs to conquer global markets.
"The Government of Canada is committed to promoting the role of innovation as an important way of encouraging company diversification and growth. This is why we are pleased to support the development of Super Décapant/Remover, which will become more competitive, continue to offer quality products and maintain good jobs in the region."
Pierre Breton, Member of Parliament for Shefford
"By investing in innovation in manufacturing, the Government of Canada stays true to its commitments and helps businesses expand, innovate and export their products in order to stimulate the growth of the Canadian economy and strengthen the middle class."
The Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister responsible for CED
"We are very grateful for the support from Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions. The financial assistance will help us continue in our market development efforts in Canada and abroad by increasing our productivity and enhancing our product line."
Sébastien Plourde, President, Super Décapant/Remover
