Support for Arts and Culture in Northwestern New Brunswick

Government of Canada supports the Societe culturelle des Hauts-Plateaux


SAINT-QUENTIN, NEW BRUNSWICK--(Marketwired - June 23, 2015) - Department of Canadian Heritage

The Honourable Bernard Valcourt, Minister of Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development and Member of Parliament (Madawaska-Restigouche), today announced a total of $32,375 in funding for the Société culturelle des Hauts-Plateaux to support its 2015-16 and 2016-17 programming. Minister Valcourt made this announcement on behalf of the Honourable Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages.

The multi-year contribution comes from the Canada Arts Presentation Fund. Over the next two years, around 30 artists, ensembles and companies from New Brunswick and Quebec will perform in Kedgwick and Saint-Quentin. This year, the organization will also present an additional concert on July 2 with Caribbean performers to celebrate the 2015 Pan Am and Parapan Am Games being held in Canada.

  • The Société culturelle des Hauts-Plateaux, established in 1989, is a multidisciplinary arts presenter in Saint-Quentin in rural northwestern New Brunswick.
  • The Société provides cultural enrichment and development for all the French-speaking residents of the area it serves.
