Support for the Francophone Community in Moose Jaw and Gravelbourg

MP Ray Boughen announces funding to the Association communautaire fransaskoise de Moose Jaw


MOOSE JAW, SASKATCHEWAN--(Marketwired - April 27, 2015) - Department of Canadian Heritage

The Government of Canada is providing $81,600 in total funding to the Association communautaire fransaskoise de Moose Jaw for its 2015-2016 programming ($67,600) and its visual arts workshops and exhibit project for youth in Moose Jaw and Gravelbourg ($14,000). The Government of Canada is providing this financial support under the Community Life component of the Development of Official-Language Communities Program.

Ray Boughen, Member of Parliament for Palliser, made the announcement today on behalf of the Honourable Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages.

  • As part of its 2015-2016 programming, the Association communautaire fransaskoise de Moose Jaw plans to:
    • offer cultural activities such as a sugar shack, shows, celebrations and film screenings in French.
    • organize parent/child playgroups, French classes in collaboration with Collège Mathieu, and singing workshops for elementary and high school students in the area.
    • provide a loan service for French-language resources and welcome Francophone newcomers.
  • The visual arts workshop and exhibit project will offer a series of after-school visual arts workshops to students in Francophone and immersion schools in Moose Jaw and Gravelbourg.
