Government of Canada provides funding for a project of the Federation des jeunes francophones du Nouveau-Brunswick

MONCTON, NEW BRUNSWICK--(Marketwired - June 26, 2015) - Department of Canadian Heritage

Robert Goguen, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Justice and Member of Parliament (Moncton-Riverview-Dieppe), today announced support of $55,440 over two years ($37,920 in 2015-16 and $17,520 in 2016-17) for the Fédération des jeunes francophones du Nouveau-Brunswick (FJFNB). He made this announcement on behalf of the Honourable Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages.

The Government of Canada is providing this funding through the Development of Official-Language Communities Program. The FJFNB will use this support to organize a provincial concert tour this fall, featuring the 15 finalists from the competition Accros de la Chanson, emerging artists and young apprentice technicians. Established artists will also participate in the tour, creating a space for dialogue and learning with the youth. In addition, 1,000 copies of a guide to organizing concerts will be printed and distributed to youth in the province.

Quick Facts

  • The FJFNB, established in 1971, represents Francophone and Acadian youth and defends their interests. It is committed to the development of identity and culture among youth, and promotes leadership, community engagement and citizenship.
  • The project will involve over 150 young people directly. In addition to the concert series participants, around 100 young people will attend workshops on show creation, presentation and production during a gathering at the end of the tour.
  • All provincial high school students and the public will be invited to attend the concerts and discover new Francophone artists.
