Support for Quebec Communities: Government of Canada Injects Over $150,000 in the Maria-Chapdelaine RCM Economy


SAINTE-JEANNE-D'ARC, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - Jan. 23, 2015) - Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED)

The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, today announced that two municipalities and one association in the Regional County Municipality (RCM) of Maria-Chapdelaine have been granted funding for the renovation of their respective community halls.

This financial assistance has been awarded in the form of three non-repayable contributions totalling $152,536 through the Local Investment Initiative (LII), a component of CED's Quebec Economic Development Program.

The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, today announced that two municipalities and one association in the Regional County Municipality (RCM) of Maria-Chapdelaine have been granted funding for the renovation of their respective community halls.

Promoter Contribution - Investment - Project description
Association des sportifs d'Albanel Inc. Non-repayable contribution of $88,625 on a total investment of $177,250.

Association des sportifs d'Albanel Inc.
is a non-profit organization that offers the population the opportunity to engage in a variety of activities such as cycling, cross-country skiing, hiking, snowmobiling and snowshoeing. The organization operates a community building housing an existing community hall that is open and accessible to the public.

The project involves improving this community infrastructure owned by the Association des sportifs d'Albanel. The work will include renovating the windows, exterior covering, roof, floor covering, porch and portico of the building.

These improvements will ensure better services to the users of this community infrastructure.
Municipality of Sainte-Jeanne-d'Arc Village Non-repayable contribution of $32,995 on a total investment of $65,990.

The Municipality of Sainte-Jeanne-d'Arc Village, with its population of 1,100 residents, is situated between the cities of Alma and Dolbeau-Mistassini.

The municipality's project involves renovating the Gaétan Bonneau community centre, an infrastructure with publicly-accessible community halls. The work will include replacing the building's doors and windows and renovating its restrooms.

These improvements will allow Sainte-Jeanne-d'Arc to ensure the sustainability of its community infrastructure while offering citizens a better quality of life through facilities that are better adapted to their needs.
Municipality of Girardville Non-repayable contribution of $30,916 on a total investment of $61,831.

Girardville is one of Lac-St-Jean's northernmost towns and has a population of over 1,100 inhabitants. The municipality's community centre, which includes three existing community halls that are open and accessible to the public, is used by various local community groups and associations.

This project involves renovating the community infrastructure by, among other things, replacing the building's roof and interior and exterior doors.

The improvements made to this multigenerational gathering place will benefit the entire community.
