Supporting the 4 Nations Cup: Hockey Canada Receives Government of Canada Funding to Host the 4 Nations Cup in Women's Hockey

KAMLOOPS, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwired - Nov. 8, 2014) - Canadian Heritage

Cathy McLeod, Member of Parliament (Kamloops-Thompson-Cariboo), on behalf of the Honourable Bal Gosal, Minister of State (Sport), today announced $50,000 in funding for Hockey Canada. This funding, provided through Sport Canada's Hosting Program, supports the 4 Nations Cup. The tournament is being held at the Interior Savings Centre in Kamloops from November 4 to 8, 2014.

  • The 4 Nations Cup is an annual women's hockey tournament that includes four top hockey nations: Canada, the United States, Sweden and Finland.
  • Canada's National Women's Team has won the gold medal at the 4 Nations Cup 13 times since the first tournament in 1996.
  • Sport Canada's Sport Support Program is providing approximately $2,945,000 to Hockey Canada during the 2014-2015 fiscal year.
  • Sport Canada's Athlete Assistance Program provided $768,372.68 to 64 Canadian female hockey players to assist with living, training, tuition support and special needs support in 2013-2014.
