Parliamentary Secretary Mark Strahl announces funding for the Chilliwack Fair


CHILLIWACK, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwired - May 5, 2015) - Department of Canadian Heritage

The Government of Canada has provided the Chilliwack and District Agricultural Society with $15,800 in funding through the Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage program in support of the 143rd edition of the Chilliwack Fair.

Mark Strahl, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development and Member of Parliament (Chilliwack-Fraser Canyon), made this announcement today on behalf of the Honourable Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages.

  • The Chilliwack and District Agricultural Society, founded in 1873, encourages and promotes agricultural development in the Fraser Valley.
  • The Chilliwack Fair is the second oldest fair in British Columbia.
  • This year's fair will take place from August 7 to 9 at Chilliwack Heritage Park. Activities will include dance and musical performances, as well as exhibitions by local artists and artisans.
