Badminton Canada receives Government of Canada funding to host the Pan American Badminton Championships


MARKHAM, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Oct. 15, 2014) - Canadian Heritage

Paul Calandra, Member of Parliament (Oak Ridges-Markham), on behalf of the Honourable Bal Gosal, Minister of State (Sport), today announced $20,000 in funding to Badminton Canada. This funding, provided through Sport Canada's Hosting Program, supports the 2014 Pan American Badminton Championships, which are being held at the Atos Markham Pan Am / Parapan Am Centre in Markham from October 13 to 19, 2014.

  • The 2014 Pan American Badminton Championships, a test event for the 2015 Pan Am Games, will attract 102 athletes from 33 countries.
  • Sport Canada's Sport Support Program is providing up to $288,900 to Badminton Canada during the 2014-2015 fiscal year.
  • Sport Canada's Athlete Assistance Program provided $107,400 to six Canadian badminton players to assist with living, training and tuition expenses in 2013-2014.
