Supporting the Performing Arts in Mississauga

Mississauga Living Arts Centre receives support for its annual presentation series


MISSISSAUGA, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - June 26, 2014) - Department of Canadian Heritage

The Government of Canada has provided the Mississauga Living Arts Centre (LAC) with $80,000 over two years through the Canada Arts Presentation Fund to present their year-round performing arts series. From September to June in 2014-2015 and 2015-2016, the LAC will present an average of 20 shows with performances in a variety of disciplines, including jazz, world, popular, classical and folk music, as well as dance, opera, spoken word, and musical theatre.

Wladyslaw Lizon, Member of Parliament (Mississauga East-Cooksville), made this announcement today on behalf of the Honourable Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages.

  • To support the growth of its children's programming, in 2015 the Living Arts Centre will introduce a three-day children's festival, with two days of performances for schools and one for the public.
  • The LAC serves as the performance outlet for dozens of Mississauga arts organizations and community cultural groups, including the Mississauga Choral Society, Mississauga Symphony Orchestra, and Mississauga International Children's Festival, as well as 30 community organizations.
