Government of Canada provides financial support to the Station Arts Centre Co-operative


SASKATOON, SASKATCHEWAN--(Marketwired - April 1, 2014) - Department of Canadian Heritage

Member of Parliament Maurice Vellacott (Saskatoon-Wanuskewin), on behalf of Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages Shelly Glover, today announced that the Station Arts Centre Co-operative will benefit from a boost of $3,628 to its fundraising efforts through the Saskatoon Community Foundation.

The Government of Canada is providing this funding for the Saskatoon Community Foundation to manage and invest on behalf of the Station Arts Centre Co-operative through the Endowment Incentives component of the Canada Cultural Investment Fund, which encourages Canadians to donate to professional arts organizations.

  • The Station Arts Centre Co-operative has its home in a renovated CN Railway station in Rosthern, Saskatchewan. It serves as a performing arts venue and offers outreach activities, youth programming, and summer theatre productions.
  • With this latest grant, the Station Arts Centre Co-operative will have received a total of $51,000 in grants matching $63,936 in private-sector donations to the Co-operative endowment fund.
  • Since 2006-2007, the Endowment Incentives component has provided more than $132 million to various endowment funds in Canada, while the private sector has provided $185 million, for a total of over $317 million.
