Survey by SHOP.COM™ Reveals Fans Are Willing to Work, Even Pay for Chance to Attend OSCARS®

Sandra Bullock Predicted to Be Best-Dressed and Awarded Best Actress

MONTEREY, CA--(Marketwire - March 4, 2010) -  Over 60 percent of respondents in an OSCAR®-themed survey by SHOP.COM, the comparison shopping site for busy women, say that they would be willing to ditch the glamour and work as an event staffer or humble seat-filler at this year's OSCARS, if it gave them a chance to attend the star-studded event. Seventeen percent of survey takers said they'd even pay for tickets, and one out of 10 said they'd pose as paparazzi to get a glimpse of Hollywood's glitterati.

OSCAR dreams notwithstanding, most (58 percent) say their favorite place to watch the OSCARS is cozy at home with a Snuggie and bottle of wine. And, why will they be tuning in? The fashion and the celebrities (36 percent); the films and winners (34 percent); followed by the appeal of hosts Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin hamming it up (14 percent), according to the SHOP.COM survey.

"It's no secret that most people watch the OSCARS for the fabulous fashion, but our survey shows that one-third are 'playing it cool' or nonchalant about the perennial best-and-worst-dressed lists," said Simona Supekar, Communications Manager for SHOP.COM. "Still, one-quarter of respondents say that it's important to dress to impress at the OSCARS, no matter who you are. Unless, perhaps, you're George Clooney, whom 44 percent said could turn up in jeans and not look like a dud."

Winner Predictions
Survey respondents predict Sandra Bullock will be queen of the night at the 82nd ACADEMY AWARDS® at both the ceremony and on the red carpet. Two-thirds say she will walk away with the Best Actress award for her role in "The Blind Side," and the majority (37 percent) expects her to have the scene-stealing red carpet look.

As for the favorite celebrity interviewer on the red carpet: Funny lady Kathy Griffin reigns supreme (30 percent), over Mario Lopez (28 percent) and the veteran mother-daughter team of Joan and Melissa Rivers (24 percent).

Respondents were deadlocked in choosing the Best Picture, with "Avatar" and "The Blind Side" each receiving 27 percent of votes. The survey shows that Jeff Bridges is the front runner (40 percent) for Best Actor for his role in "Crazy Heart."
