Sustainable Energy's SUNERGY(TM) Inverters Selected to Power Ontario's Largest Solar Tracker Project to Date

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Jan. 11, 2011) - Sustainable Energy Technologies Ltd (TSX VENTURE:STG) ("Sustainable Energy" or the "Company") Canada's solar inverter company is pleased to announce that its SUNERGYTM inverters have been selected to power Ontario's largest solar tracker project to date. Located in Eastern Ontario, the project will have a rated capacity in excess of 500kW and will be installed over the course of this year.

Solar trackers follow the sun throughout the day to increase the solar energy yield by as much as 40% over static arrays. Located at the base of each tracker, the SUNERGYTM inverters increase project investment returns with more precise maximum power point tracking, better system availability and an overall lower installed cost than competitive solutions.

"This project establishes the SUNERGYTM inverter as the product of choice in Ontario for solar tracker projects especially in the fast growing micro-FIT market," said Michael Carten Chief Executive Officer of Sustainable Energy. "The Sustainable Energy team brings many years of field experience to the Ontario tracker market from our first installations for a 6 MW solar tracker project in Olmedilla, Spain. Ranked as one of the largest tracker projects in the world, the project has been has been operating successfully for almost 3 years; and is testimony to the reliability of the SUNERGYTM platform in very difficult operating conditions.

Rated for temperatures down to minus 40 degrees Celsius, the high-yield, field serviceable, SUNERGYTM inverter is the only tracker mounted solution for the solar tracker market in Ontario.

For competitive and customer confidentiality reasons, the Company as a matter of policy typically does not disclose the value of the contract or the identity of the customer.

About Sustainable Energy:

Sustainable Energy (www.sustainableenergy.com) is Canada's solar inverter company. The Company's patented inverter technologies are a breakthrough in power inverter design and capabilities for all forms of distributed generation and smart grid applications.

The SUNERGYTM inverter is the industry's only grid-interactive solar inverter which enables a "parallel" solar PV system architecture in higher power ratings at a cost and serviceability factor that is comparable to conventional inverters in the market. The benefits of parallel solar are: (i) 5% - 25% higher total system power output; (ii) a better fill factor enabling better coverage of available space; (iii) simplified system design and installation; and (iv) the safety of extra low operating voltages which ensures the safety of building maintenance personnel, first responders, and tradesmen who may accidentally come into contact with system wiring.

Sustainable Energy's technologies are the subject of multiple patents issued by and pending with the Canadian and US Patent Offices.
