Sutherland Global Services Achieves 10,000 Person Social Responsibility Objective

ROCHESTER, NY--(Marketwire - May 25, 2012) - Sutherland Global Services, a U.S.-based global provider of Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) and Technology Enabled services, announced a major milestone of certifying 10,000 persons in its 5 year-long project to set up Community Technology & Social Responsibility Centers ("CTC") around the globe. Sutherland and Microsoft partnered in 2007 with the shared mission to provide technology access and skills training to underserved communities worldwide.

Sutherland executive Dan Lang commented, "In our first year of operations, we served 1200 people with the help of 97 local community organizations in India. Today, we are excited and proud to say we have surpassed our goal of 10,000 program graduates in India and the Philippines and are full steam ahead establishing new milestones, including instituting similar programs in the United States."

The CTC was established as part of Sutherland's Corporate Social Responsibility initiative to strengthen the technical knowledge base of local, underprivileged communities. Its digital literacy curriculum consists of course material provided by Microsoft Learning and is designed to increase computer awareness and provide people with advanced technological skills aimed at increasing their employability. Participants receive a comprehensive learning experience in the presence of skilled Sutherland trainers in classrooms fully equipped with multimedia enabled computers, internet access, printers, digital teaching aids and recreational technology.

Remarking on this milestone achievement, Senior Director Rick Kerbs of Microsoft stated, "This is a great achievement and on behalf of Microsoft I wish to express our sincere appreciation to Sutherland Global Services for their contribution to the CTC Program. Microsoft's mission and values are centered on helping people throughout the world reach their full potential, and by working together with Sutherland, we have helped thousands of individuals get to the right side of the digital divide."

Sutherland perfected the CTC model in India and in April 2009 established their first operation in the Philippines. Since then, three more centers have been launched in the towns of Victoria, La Paz and Santa Ignacia. In the Philippines to date, Sutherland has successfully certified over 3,383 trainees. Combined with two centers in Kochi and Chennai in India, Sutherland has trained over 11,000 individuals, and certified over 10,000 participants. Based on the overwhelming success the program has generated, Sutherland is eager to implement comparable programs in local U.S. communities. The growing need for domestic assistance in this area has led Sutherland to commit itself to focus support on U.S. based organizations with similar missions by both financial backing and technology facilitation.
