Suzanne Rogers Extends Support of TFI New Labels®

$25,000 Cash Award for Most Promising New Label to Continue Into 2017

TORONTO, ON--(Marketwired - October 09, 2013) - The Toronto Fashion Incubator (TFI) is delighted to announce that philanthropist and TFI supporter, Suzanne Rogers, has pledged to continue her $25,000 cash award for Most Promising New Label at TFI New Labels® through to 2017.

"I have always had a strong love of fashion, and believe in supporting local talent," said Suzanne Rogers. "TFI New Labels® is an invaluable program for emerging design talent and I am honoured to be involved."

The 2014 grand prize also includes a full-page feature in FLARE magazine and production of a look book for the winning collection, provided by COVERGIRL and Pantene. The look book will include a photoshoot with hair and make-up styling by Pantene and COVERGIRL experts.

TFI New Labels® is a prestigious, national fashion design competition and exciting runway show developed and managed by the TFI. Canadian designers who have been in business three years or less and create women's ready-to-wear for the contemporary market are eligible to win the grand prize package. COVERGIRL and Pantene return as the Exclusive Beauty Partners of the 2014 Competition for the seventh consecutive year. As Exclusive Beauty Partners, COVERGIRL and Pantene will provide make-up and hair products used to create the beauty looks featured on the runway, inspired by the finalists' collections. Other event sponsors include FLARE, Mantella Corporation, Rogers Communications, Salon Daniel, Cassels Brock Blackwell LLP and the City of Toronto.

"We are extremely grateful to Suzanne Rogers and to all of our wonderful event partners. For without them, promising Canadian designers would not have an opportunity to take their collections to the next level," said Susan Langdon, Executive Director, TFI.

Established in 1992 as Canada's original, nation-wide search for emerging young designers, TFI New Labels® has launched the careers of the hottest up-coming design talent in Canada. Notable TFI New Labels® alumni include Todd Lynn, Joeffer Caoc, Juma, Anastasia Lomonova, Golnaz Ashtiani, Sid Neigum, and 2013 winner Sarah Stevenson. The competition runs over six months where a hand-picked group of semi-finalists meet and interact with a prestigious panel of judges from whom they gain valuable knowledge about developing a successful line. At each judging session, designers compete to move forward or risk being eliminated until only four finalists remain. The 2014 TFI New Labels® competition will take place next spring.

On October 29th at 5:30pm at the Toronto Fashion Incubator, TFI will hold a special seminar to provide details on the TFI New Labels® competition to interested applicants. Designers interested in winning the grand prize package are encouraged to attend the seminar, where they will receive:
