Sweden's Vattenfall Extends Electric Metering System Contract With Telvent

MADRID, SPAIN -- (MARKET WIRE) -- January 11, 2007 -- Telvent GIT S.A. (NASDAQ: TLVT), the Global RealTime IT Company, announced today that Swedish electricity company, Vattenfall Eldistribution AB, had exercised options under its agreement with Telvent for the supply and management of an Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) system servicing an initial 300,000 customers. Exercise of the options allows for the servicing of an additional 200,000 customers and is valued at more than 40 million euros ($52 million USD).

More than 110,000 meters, associated data concentrators and system software have already been installed in the initial phase of the project and further options allow for an increase in project scope to potentially 700,000 meters. The Telvent metering system, enabling a comprehensive range of utility applications, is based on the Network Energy Services (NES), supplied by technology partner Echelon Corporation.

According to Telvent's chairman and chief executive officer, Manuel Sánchez Ortega, "The exercise of options by Vattenfall is a strong validation of our success in the initial implementation of what will be one of the world's largest AMR systems. Telvent has done an extraordinary job of satisfying all of Vattenfall's requirements on this project. This contributed to a high level of mutual trust and was a key factor in exercising the options."

Telvent is also providing complementary metering and data management services, utilizing an integrated solution for the management and operation of the system, which allows Vattenfall to comply with Swedish regulatory requirements and improve customer service quality. The contract also includes management of metering information, reporting, maintenance and support of all system devices in the project. The accuracy and reliability of the real-time information provided by this type of advanced AMR system technology are quickly becoming critical requirements for the billing process efficiency of all modern day electric utilities.

"The ongoing services we are providing to Vattenfall will allow Telvent to maintain a long-term relationship with the Swedish company, beyond that of supplying and commissioning the current system. The partnership between the two companies will result in an overall improvement of the quality of service that Vattenfall's customers receive," added Sánchez Ortega.
