SACRAMENTO, CA--(Marketwired - May 19, 2014) - This Saturday, Swinerton Builders Sacramento demonstrated a remarkable commitment to their communities and the passion of their people through participation in Relay for Life Folsom. Swinerton's 19-member strong walking team "Swinerton Builders Walking in Memory of Jane" fundraised more than $26,000 for the American Cancer Society through a $5,000 donation from its nonprofit arm The Swinerton Foundation and the generous support of family, friends, subcontractors, and project partners; the company also supplied pro bono temporary power for the relay.
During the 24-hour event that celebrates the lives of those who have battled cancer, the team walked and cheered alongside other participants as they remembered and honored, as well as pledged to continue to fight back against the disease. In an inspirational display of determination and endurance, Swinerton team member Mike Piper walked the full 24 hours for a total of 48.25 miles.
In addition to Relay for Life Folsom, Swinerton Builders Sacramento routinely organizes teams for other local charitable events and is proud to extend their teamwork beyond the jobsite to those in the community who need it most.
