Swinton Warns Against Windy Weather

MANCHESTER, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwire - May 8, 2011) - As the windy weather continues across Britain, Swinton Insurance is giving out some helpful advice to homeowners to avoid damage to buildings.

Swinton, the UK's leading high street retailer of home insurance is offering valuable tips for homeowners after forecasters predicted the windy weather to last until next week.

Swinton is also advising homeowners to double check their policy for building insurance to see if it protects them against storm damage, otherwise damage to building from high winds could prove costly to repair.

Swinton is offering the following tips to homeowners:

  • Make sure you close all windows and doors in strong winds
  • Strong winds can knock out power lines so make sure you have a torch handy
  • Secure fence panels and outdoor furniture as these can be easily lifted in strong winds and do damage to your building if hurled through the air

Steve Chelton, Insurance Development Manager at Swinton said, "Usually storm damages is included automatically on a home insurance policy but it is always best to double check with your home insurance provider."
