Swiss Specialty Chemical Company van Baerle Selects Marathon Technologies' everRun to Protect IT Infrastructure From Downtime

Eliminating Downtime Offers a Clear Competitive Advantage in Production

MUNCHENSTEIN, SWITZERLAND--(Marketwire - June 15, 2010) -  Marathon Technologies today announced that van Baerle, a Swiss manufacturer of specialty chemicals and silicate products, has selected Marathon's everRun VM high availability software. van Baerle chose Marathon's everRun as it provides the highest levels of protection against downtime for van Baerle's most critical applications including Microsoft Exchange, SQL Server, and Navision ERP System. In addition, everRun meets the company's strict requirements for application availability.

everRun replaces van Baerle's previous VMware solution, which did not provide the reliability required by the company for their critical manufacturing and business applications. The existing environment was migrated to Marathon everRun from Citrix XenServer by Marathon's Swiss Reseller Delta Energy Solution AG.

"With regards to cost-performance ratio, Marathon's everRun is the most attractive solution for small and medium-sized companies. Reduced downtime from a few days to just a few minutes is especially important in production and can be a clear advantage in a competitive marketplace," said Rolf Fischer, head of information technology and telecommunications, van Baerle. "From evaluation to the agreement of our specific needs and from delivery of the hardware components and licensing, to the final implementation, we received excellent support from Marathon."

Marathon's everRun application availability software protects van Baerle's production and logistics systems from interruptions at all times. For manufacturers, even a minute of downtime can spoil products, ruin schedules, impact earnings and compromise safety. everRun provides complete, automated virtual availability and offers the flexibility to select the level of availability that is needed for each virtual machine. van Baerle also has plans to deploy everRun in at a second data center in Europe in the coming year.

Jörg Sobottka, head of information technology services, Delta Energy Solution AG, adds, "van Baerle's choice of Marathon's everRun is the ideal solution because it provides them with fully automated availability, while also offering the flexibility to choose the right level of availability for all of their virtual machines. In case of a failure, there's no need for a manual intervention. Ideally, any mission critical application can be protected with an everRun product, enabling companies to focus on their business. Each customer achieves a very agile system following implementation, as all workloads are virtualized."
