Symantec's Norton 360 Awarded Coveted PC Magazine Editors' Choice

Editors Call Norton 360's AntiVirus and AntiSpyware Protection "Stupendous"

CUPERTINO, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- March 28, 2007 -- Symantec Corp. (NASDAQ: SYMC) today announced that its new all-in-one security service, Norton 360, has been designated PC Magazine's Editors' Choice. Norton 360 protects computers and the information stored in them from Internet threats and risks, as well as data loss, allowing computer users to freely engage in their everyday online activities without worry. Norton 360 helps restore computer users' trust when conducting activities online with transaction security features that protect against online fraud. Norton 360 also diagnoses and fixes common computer problems, optimizing PC performance and speed.

"In developing Norton 360, we focused on providing computer users with the essential protection they need to stay safe and secure online with Symantec's leading security technology, and we also worked hard to ensure they'd have a seamless, user-friendly experience," said Enrique Salem, group president, Consumer Business Unit, Symantec Corp. "It's an honor to receive PC Magazine's Editors' Choice designation. As one of the industry's top awards, it validates the significant effort and expertise we put into the development of the service."

Norton 360 was created with the basic computer user in mind -- one who doesn't want to deal with adjusting security settings or having the service bring up numerous prompts to accept or deny an action. Norton 360 is ideal for users who want their security to work automatically. PC Magazine editors wrote "Norton 360 takes care of your computer's security, keeps it tuned up, and automatically backs up your files -- all without getting in your face. It offers security as a service, like Windows Live OneCare and McAfee Total Protection, but does so better than either of these competitors."

Norton 360 provides complete protection through PC Security, Transaction Security, Backup and Restore, PC Tuneup and Embedded Support. In PC Magazine's review, editors highlighted the following features:

-- AntiVirus and AntiSpyware Protection - Norton 360 features Symantec's
industry-leading protection against a wide range of threats and risks,
including viruses, spyware, hackers and more. "The results overall were
stupendous," Neil Rubenking, PC Magazine editor, wrote. "Like [Norton
Internet Security] 2007, Norton 360 removed all eight of the commercial
keyloggers I use for testing. Of nineteen assorted spyware, adware, Trojan-
horse, and rogue antispyware samples, it detected every single one..."
Rubenking also noted Norton 360's powerful protection against new and
    unknown threats.
-- Support - Norton 360's embedded support gives users easy access to
technical support via phone, as well as free support via live chat and e-
mail. Rubenking praised the product's live chat feature noting the fast
response from a Symantec technical support representative.
-- Firewall - PC Magazine states that Norton 360's firewall "...blocks
incoming attacks silently, lets known good programs do what they want, and
simply removes known bad programs. With unknown programs, the suite
monitors what they're doing and stops them cold if it decides they're
    malicious."

PC Magazine editors closed the review by stating that "Norton 360 has definitely hit the sweet spot, both performing its tasks effectively and minimizing user interaction."
