Synapse Wireless Named "Best New Company" at Embedded Systems Conference by eg3

Synapse's SNAP® Mesh Network Software Named "Best of Show"

HUNTSVILLE, AL--(Marketwire - April 9, 2009) - Synapse Wireless® today announced that it has been recognized by eg3 as the "Best New Company" at the Embedded Systems Conference Silicon Valley 2009, San Jose, California, and that SNAP, Synapse's wireless mesh network protocol, received the "Best of Show" award.

Synapse's SNAP technology is unprecedented in the industry and has earned broad recognition and acceptance. SNAP network software is an IEEE 802.15.4 based, auto-forming, multi-hop, mesh network stack combined with an embedded Python interpreter for running application code. SNAP supports battery-powered mesh (Sleepy Mesh®), AES encryption and over-the-air programming of devices.

Synapse Wireless recently introduced a new product, SNAPconnect, which seamlessly connects a SNAP wireless mesh network to the Internet. The power of Synapse's solution comes from the fundamental architecture of SNAP technology -- it was designed from inception to support a bridge to native TCP/IP protocol.

"IEEE 802.15.4 wireless has been a core enabler bringing embedded sensor networks to some great new applications," said Jason McDonald, Senior Editor, eg3.com. "What's really cool about Synapse's SNAPconnect is not only that it brings the Internet to this realm, but that it makes it 'easy' for application developers. Python scripting is another added ease-of-use feature. That's why we designated it as a 'best new product' at this Spring's Embedded Systems Conference."

"We are pleased to be recognized by eg3, the oldest and largest web resource devoted to electronic design and embedded systems," said Wade Patterson, CEO of Synapse Wireless. "SNAP, winning Best of Show, is the standard software platform for Panasonic RF modules and has become a strategic offering for California Eastern Laboratories' market expansion. With revenue doubling for Synapse last quarter, we anticipate accelerated growth as SNAP becomes the foundation for an explosion of applications."

Synapse Wireless is seeing increased OEM design wins in markets where reliable wireless control and monitoring mesh networks are needed for real world situations, including such applications as smart grid, homeland security, energy exploration, HVAC, medical asset management, and many more.
