Synapse® Announces Major Price Reductions for SNAP® Wireless Mesh Network Evaluation Kits

Synapse Cites Growing Acceptance and Economies of Scale for 50% Price Reduction

HUNTSVILLE, AL--(Marketwire - January 26, 2010) - Synapse Wireless®, with continuing momentum in Internet-enabled, wireless machine-to-machine (M2M) mesh networks, announced a 50% price reduction for its network development kits based on the award-winning Synapse SNAP® technology. SNAP is an instant-on, multi-hop, mesh network, software solution that brings interoperability and easy integration to the Internet.

Citing the benefits of increased sales and growing market acceptance, Wade Patterson, Synapse Wireless CEO, said, "The real news is how our kits make the prototyping of customer's applications fast and easy, and how SNAP can accelerate the most demanding development schedules. Now, with economies of scale, we can offer our kits at extraordinary prices."

The SNAP development kits include the EK2100, reduced to $99, which provides an easy, affordable way for companies or individuals to evaluate the most advanced, IEEE802.15.4, wireless mesh network technology available today -- Synapse SNAP -- and to prototype product designs that need fast, reliable machine communication and intelligence.

The EK2500 kit, now $199, gives developers everything they need to gain a fundamental understanding of SNAP and to quickly design their application. The kit forms a wireless mesh network the moment the SNAP nodes are turned on. A clear, step-by-step user's guide shows an engineer how to easily interface the SNAP node to sensors, sound devices and LEDs and immediately experiment with over-the-air programming. A version with AES-128 encryption is also available when added security is a requirement.

All kits include Synapse's Portal™, the application environment and network administrative tool that provides a comfortable environment for writing and experimenting with application scripts, logging data, monitoring nodes, or providing the SNAP nodes with full access to capabilities of a PC.

SNAP provides the only instant-on, self-healing, wireless mesh network that has the power of Synapse's embedded Python engine, SNAPpy, for running high-level applications. Expanding the network is as easy as turning on another SNAP node, downloading its application script wirelessly and watching it perform. No complex programming skills are required or complicated programming and debugging tools.

"And Synapse Design Services can help overcome any extraordinary engineering challenge," continued Wade. "All this, as well as Internet access through SNAP® Connect, gives our customers a decisive competitive advantage."

Synapse has experienced a 40% increase in registered SNAP users in just the last four months alone and is seeing applications being developed for wireless sensor networks, LED lighting control, solar farm monitoring, building and home automation applications, and many more.

All kits are distributed by Future Electronics, Digi-Key, Sager Electronics and Carlton-Bates. SNAP continues to lead in low-cost, low-power, wireless mesh networks designed for ease and speed in OEM product development.
