Sysadmins Test Their Skills, Troubleshoot Real-Life Application Performance Issues With the Solarwinds Application Performance Monitor Demo Challenge

SolarWinds Selects Fourth Winner From the More Than 4,000 Entries Completed so Far

AUSTIN, TX--(Marketwire - February 17, 2011) - The rapid pace of technology and trends like virtualization and Consumerization of IT are forcing system administrators to step up their game. SolarWinds® Inc. (NYSE: SWI), a leading provider of powerful and affordable IT management software, today announced its fourth winner in the SolarWinds Application Performance Monitor Demo Challenge, which is designed to amplify the skills required today and demonstrate how SolarWinds Application Performance Monitor (APM) provides the support to help make SysAdmins' jobs easier.

To compete for a chance to win one of 10 iPads, Systems and Applications professionals must visit the Demo Challenge site, fill out the entry form and submit. Participants are then asked to troubleshoot five, real-life application performance issues using SolarWinds Application Performance Monitor. The Demo Challenge is open only to legal residents of the United States, limit one entry per person/e-mail address.

SolarWinds will select one potential winner in a random drawing of all entries received as of 8 a.m. CT on each of the following dates: February 7, 10, 15, 17, 19, 22, 25 and 28; and March 3 and 6, 2011. The odds of being selected depend on the number of entries received for the applicable drawing. Entries that are not selected in one drawing will carry forward into subsequent drawings. Three winners have been chosen to date:

  • Joseph K. from Peoria, Ariz.
  • Heath B. from Topeka, Kan.
  • Tyson M. from Austin, Texas

Today's winner is Mike M. from Philadelphia.

"Practitioners increasingly have to deal not only with physical systems but also virtual systems and, hence, the applications that are running on them," said Suku Krishnaraj, SolarWinds' SVP of Product Strategy. "SolarWinds understands that in order to really understand what's happening with applications, users need a complete view of application performance along with insight into the performance of underlying servers, and we think SolarWinds APM is the best suited product to help change their ability to manage day to day tasks, troubleshoot and proactively monitor potential issues."

The Demo Challenge runs through March 6, 2011. SolarWinds will announce the remaining winners via SolarWinds' Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn sites.
