Sysomos Scales Operations With Strategic Executive Hires

Executives From Clear Channel, Sun Microsystems, and NICE Systems Join Leadership Team to Cement Enterprise Growth Across the Organization

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwired - Jun 23, 2015) -  Sysomos, the social intelligence company backed by data science, today announced the addition of five executives to its leadership team. Lindsay Sparks, named CEO in February, personally recruited these executives to strengthen the company's leadership as it scales operations, sales, and crucial data processing capabilities by more than 300 percent this year. Each of the new executives -- Omer Aziz as senior vice president of human resources, Edward Byon as chief financial officer, Eric Kafka as vice president of corporate development, Timothy Torres as senior vice president of infrastructure, and Mark Young as chief marketing officer -- brings with them experience and expertise growing large-scale enterprise businesses.

Sparks adds these executives to the Sysomos team at a pivotal time. In 2015, the company is heavily investing in talent to scale operations and, specifically, in its marketing and technology organizations. More than 1,400 paying customers, including 80 percent of the most valuable global brands, as ranked by Interbrand, use Sysomos to understand the impact of social on their business. To serve those customers, the Sysomos social intelligence platform currently decodes two petabytes of unstructured data constantly and is on pace to reach seven petabytes by the end of this year.

The new additions combine decades of experience across crucial business functions.

Omer Aziz, Senior Vice President of Human Resources
Aziz brings more than 25 years of experience working in global telecommunication and high-tech companies. Aziz has a combined background in engineering and HR, both in education and experience. Aziz recently completed an assignment in the UK as the International Head of HR for BlackBerry. Before that he held various senior roles in HR and Operations at BlackBerry, Nortel and Bell Canada.

Edward Byon, Chief Financial Officer
With over 15 years of financial, accounting and management experience, Byon previously worked as a consultant for large organizations including Tyco Integrated Securities and Siemens. Byon also held senior finance positions for Ruggedcom Inc. and Sun Microsystems, and was instrumental to the acquisition and integration work by Siemens and Oracle, respectively.

Eric Kafka, Vice President, Corporate Development
Kafka joins Sysomos from OMERS Private Equity, where he spent a significant amount of his time in the software space and worked on numerous transactions, including both acquisitions and divestitures. Kafka started his career with Scotiabank Global Banking and Markets in the Mergers and Acquisitions Group, where he worked on a number of M&A transactions across a diversified group of industries.

Timothy Torres, Senior Vice President of Infrastructure
Torres brings nearly three decades of experience in information technology to the Sysomos team, most recently from NICE Systems, where he was vice president of global hosting operations. He has a deep understanding of the intricacies involved in building the infrastructure required to support the vast amounts of data pulsing through the Sysomos platform.

Mark Young, Chief Marketing Officer
Young comes to Sysomos from Clear Channel, where he served as the executive vice president of marketing solutions, and before that he spent fifteen years at Microsoft as general manager. Throughout his more than twenty year career, Young has overseen product development, program management, business modeling, marketing, brand building, and finance for consumer products and services, as well as for business-to-business products and services, and partner management.
