T-System Introduces Solution to Improve Emergency Department Throughput and Operational Performance

T SystemEV STAT Helps ED Management Identify Bottlenecks and Plan Strategically for Resource Needs

DALLAS, TX--(Marketwire - February 17, 2011) - T-System, Inc., the industry leader in clinical, business and I.T. solutions for emergency medicine, today announced the launch of an advanced information technology solution, T SystemEV® STAT, made possible in part through an exclusive agreement with Apogee Informatics Corporation. T SystemEV STAT represents a major expansion of T-System's automated emergency department (ED) offerings for hospitals and health systems. Already implemented in leading health institutions, the Web-based module aggregates real-time data intelligence to enable higher level decisions about patient flow, staffing and resources.

Hospital management can immediately view an "at a glance" snapshot of current ED activities and make proactive decisions accordingly. At the core of T SystemEV STAT is an intelligent engine that uses advanced algorithms to analyze patient data, calculate metrics such as inflow/outflow ratio and capacity, trend against historical baselines, and perform predictive modeling. To help hospitals stay ahead of potential bottlenecks that can disrupt workflow, it generates and distributes notifications for key metrics that can be set by hospitals. Furthermore, T SystemEV STAT can track and identify geographically clusters of people diagnosed with a particular illness, for example, a flu virus outbreak, leading to sophisticated capabilities such as disease surveillance.

Highly configurable, T SystemEV STAT offers a continuous ability to manipulate the data collected any day or time. For example, patient flow patterns can be analyzed between weekend hours of 7 p.m. and midnight, where ED capacity is at its highest. Decisions can be made to allocate more resources or expand beds, if needed.

"Overcrowding, longer wait times, healthcare worker shortages, ICD-10 codes and Meaningful Use requirements are among the monumental events occurring in healthcare expected to present compliance and labor challenges. It's going to get harder, not easier, to internalize the explosion of new data, and present tools might not be enough," said Robert Hitchcock, M.D., F.A.C.E.P., vice president of solution management, T-System, Inc. "Our new analytics tool is designed to help hospital ED management prepare strategically for current and future state where clinician and patient satisfaction and revenue are at risk and require fast action. Already, we're proud to recognize T SystemEV STAT is flawlessly delivering value at the University of North Carolina Health Care System and other notable health institutions."

T-System will give live demonstrations of T SystemEV STAT in booth #1407 at the Emergency Nurses Association (ENA) Leadership Conference 2011 this week in the Oregon Convention Center in Portland, and at its booth #3323 in Hall A-D at the HIMSS11 Annual Conference and Exhibition Feb. 20-24 in the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla.
