MILPITAS, CA--(Marketwire - Mar 27, 2013) - Sigma Designs® (NASDAQ: SIGM), a leading provider of system-on-chip (SoC) solutions for home entertainment, connectivity and converging multimedia delivery, today announced advanced networking supplier T&W has selected Sigma Designs' new G.hn CG5200 family of chipsets for its P5200 series of powerline network adapters.
The CG5200 enables a fully self-installable home entertainment network for the distribution of Triple Play and IPTV over existing in-home powerline, coax and phone line wires. While complying with the latest G.hn standard, the CG5200 improves coverage and throughput over powerline even through surge protected power strips and multiples phases.
Consumers today face a mix of non-interoperable home networking technologies across the various wired media in the home. G.hn offers a single international standard for establishing high bandwidth communications across all existing wires. With Sigma's CG5200, every power outlet, coaxial outlet and phone jack in the home becomes a network connectivity point on the same mesh network, providing consumers with convenience and flexibility. This enables traffic to be delivered seamlessly from one medium to another.
T&W's P5200 series adapters feature a built-in power outlet design that replaces the wall outlets that are lost when the adapter is plugged in. This allows extra flexibility and convenience in deploying their ideal network to their existing environment. This also makes it an excellent solution for streaming high-definition videos, music and other streaming digital multimedia throughout a home network.
"We are excited to announce Sigma Designs as our preferred supplier of G.hn chips. Although the market is competitive, we selected Sigma's solutions because their chipsets add the robust functionality we want for our customers," says T&W Marketing Manager Chen Menggen. As an OEM & ODM manufacturerits clients include many world famous brands.
"We are extremely delighted to have T&W select our second generation G.hn chipset for their newest and most advanced powerline adaptor. The CG5200 was built with service providers' and consumers' real-world challenges in mind," said Gabi Hilevitz, Sigma Designs' vice president and general manager, Home Connectivity business unit. "T&W is an experienced networking equipment manufacturer, and their selection of our G.hn CG5200 family of chipset for their next generation products is an expression of confidence in Sigma Designs' technological leadership in this area."
