PELLA, IA--(Marketwired - August 29, 2013) - As summer fades away, now's the time to start fall home improvement projects, like caulking windows, exterior painting, or even building a backyard patio.
Just in time for home maintenance season, Pella is launching a new site -- www.PellaatLowes.com -- to help customers design and choose energy-efficient Pella windows and doors sold through Lowe's® home improvement stores.
"Lowes.com visitors shopping online for Pella windows or doors will be directed to a new micro site to browse product lines, styles, and material options," said Frank Kminek, Pella Corporation's national accounts marketing manager.
Online shoppers can design a window or door using a product configurator to help choose stylish Pella products for their home.
"The design tools on PellaatLowes.com will help customers create their preferred Pella window or door, and then print or email it to share with family, friends or a Lowe's project specialist," Kminek said. Printouts include product choices, like grille pattern, hardware finish, interior and exterior finish, and glass options to make it easy to go to the Pella Design Center® at your local Lowe's and order Pella windows and doors.
The site also invites shoppers to schedule an in-home consultation with a Lowe's project specialist, who can assess their needs, offer a recommendation and provide a project quote, including installation.
Spruce up your home with weekend projects
Need inspiration for planning your home improvement weekend? Better Homes & Gardens suggests 30 weekend projects to improve your home, including a front entrance makeover.
Start with the focal point of your entryway: the door. Paint or refinish a scratched or faded door, and dress it up with new hardware. Is the door leaky, drafty, broken or just plain worn-out? It's probably time to replace it with a new energy-efficient ENERGY STAR-qualified Pella door. Available in durable fiberglass, economical steel or natural wood options in today's popular designs, Pella entry doors are available for new construction, remodeling or replacement applications.
Next, spruce up your yard's landscaping by trimming overgrown shrubs and trees. Install outdoor lighting to enhance your home's architecture and light the walkway. Finally, add a few fun finishing touches, like a new welcome mat, potted mums or a fall-inspired wreath on the door.
Build patio, add new patio door
Use flagstones or bricks to build an outdoor patio in a weekend, according to BHG. Buy potted plants, outdoor seating and tables at end-of-summer prices to create a peaceful backyard getaway.
Need a new patio door? You can install a new patio door in a weekend or let the professionals at Lowe's do it for you. Versatile vinyl Pella 350 Series patio doors have options that meet or exceed ENERGY STAR® guidelines in all 50 U.S. states. They now offer the Pella Rolscreen® retractable screen that helps keep insects out, as it allows more light into your home and stays protected from kids, pets and the weather when not in use.
Replace drafty windows, save energy
BHG recommends replacing old windows, especially those that face prevailing winter winds, with new high-efficiency windows. If your home features single-pane windows, replace with more energy-efficient double- or triple-pane options with insulating glass for greater energy efficiency.
Pella can create a custom window with the precise size and features you need. Just in time for end-of-summer window or door replacement projects, Pella is offering 15 percent off all special order sales of (SOS) Pella windows, entry doors and patio doors at Lowe's. The promotion is available August 28 through September 10, 2013.
